NOTICE OF PERMIT APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC SUPPLY WELLS

Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) has submitted a Drilling and Production permit application to the Gonzales County Underground Water Conservation District (GCUWCD) for three (3) public supply wells and pump upgrades to seven (7) existing wells.  The expanded project is located approximately five miles northwest of the City of Waelder, off CR 444 between FM 1296 and Hwy 304 in Gonzales County. Currently, GBRA is limited to 15,000 acre-feet of groundwater per year (ac-ft/yr) from the seven (7) existing wells. GBRA proposes to produce an additional 9,000 ac-ft/yr of groundwater from the expanded project, bringing total production to 24,000 ac-ft/yr. The average rate of production is proposed to be 2,000 gallons per minute. All GBRA wells are completed in the Carrizo Aquifer.

Interested persons may provide written comments to the GCUWCD on the proposed public supply well permit application. Written comments must be filed within thirty (30) days of the date of publication of this notice and in accordance with Rule 24 of the rules of the GCUWCD.  Comments should be submitted to the GCUWCD’s General Manager at 522 Saint Matthew, P.O. Box 1919, Gonzales, Texas 78629.

 

If no comments are received by the end of the 30-day comment period, a public hearing may not be required and the Board may act on the permit application.
